Finding Beauty in the Broken Places…
I’m a published writer in Mona Magazine!

There were certain words echoing around my brain, over and over, bouncing around like a tennis ball.
“You are BROKEN!” It said
“You have a BROKEN brain!”
“There is something WRONG with you!” It shouted.
The whispers I’d felt for months, and years beforehand were exploding.
You are different, it said, as though that was some sort of lifelong curse.
You are worth less than others, it nagged.
Around and around and around and around and around…”
Thanks so much Mona Magazine for publishing my story of diagnosis as autistic in my late twenties...
This is a story near and dear to my heart and I felt both daunted and blessed telling this story to be able try and do the topic justice!
It is not just my story… but rather a story that many other women will relate the the experience of being part of an underrepresented minority and even feeling disenfranchised in life situations until learning as adults that they are actually autistic.
I hope you find meaning and perhaps even solace as you read it…
I would love to hear any feedback you have to give or even your own story if you feel inclined to share <3
